polfa fallout

I'm coming up with a couple of pictures from our recent tournament at Polfa, Bike Polo Club Kraków home court.
It was one of the most fun tournaments I've ever experienced and I'm super proud of my friends at BPCK for helping me pull it off! Scarce photo report due to tournamnet organizer's duties [head over to the FB event page for some pictures from other polo zombies.]
Also - check out our special rules at the end of this post. Rules were random for each game including the finals!

Special post apocalyptic rules:
1 NO GOALIE
2 FLAT PEDALS FOR ALL
3 LAST GOAL WINS the team to score the last goal scored before the game is over wins
4 DOUBLE SCORE certain parts of the court give you two points per scored goal
5 BACKHAND GOALS only goals scored by backhand give you a score. Any other goals result in ball turnover
6 AGITATED teams make a shuffle. The team with majority of players of the original team wins
7 PLAYER REPLACEMENT each team can replace one player with another player from any team (each player can only sub once)
8 JUMPING JACKS TAPOUT instead of tapping out after a dab, you need to perform five jumping jacks where you dabbed
9 WRECKED MALLETS teams shuffle oldschool mallets from the past of polfa
10 SNIPER MODE tiny goals + no goalies
11 UNARMED PLAYER each team only gets two mallets. Players can switch mallets within the team
12 OBSTACLES obstacles on the court [oil drums]

spring is finally BACK

This winter we didn't play much. But spring is here, so we're gonna do better. Despite the condition of Polfa, our home court (for the time being), we had amazing time playing in the sun finally! Can't wait for more polo!

snowy birthday ride

Today Bolek and I went on a short brakeless escapade out of town. Not that we necessarily love riding in the snow, but It's Bolek's birthday so what the hell! Bolek is a good bike polo friend of mine, veteran London messenger, he also cycled all the way from London to Krakow last summer, so I love riding with him, feels like I'm stepping up my game.
Enjoyed our coffee and headed back to town. Cold, but very satisfying ride!
Happy birthday, Bolo!

gloomy christmas throw ins at polfa

Last Sunday before Christmas was very misty and gloomy. Nevertheless, we've gathered at Polfa to hit the ball around and have some fun on the court, probably for the last time this year.
Thank you, Bike Polo Club Kraków for another amazing year of polo!

back to polfa

It's really been a while since I played at Bike Polo Club Kraków's home court - Polfa. Today we took advantage of sunshine and dragged our polo bikes out of the apartment. So happy to play for the first time since Warsaw Open!

polish hardcourt championship 2015

For the second time Bike Polo Club Kraków hosted Polish Hardcourt Bike Polo Championship (Mistrzostwa Polski Bike Polo). This time we had it in a remote district of Nowa Huta. Despite the distance, the tournament went well, we've welcomed ten best teams from Poland. Nieporozumienie ("misunderstanding") - Adi, Madej, Olej from Krakow won the first final game, not losing a single game throughout! Congrats, boys!
The weather was spectacular, polo fast and (mostly) clean, coffee fresh and free (thanks Bartek, for your Karma), music well chosen and loud enough (thanks Bolek, for your sound system).
Have a look at what it was like last weekend in Kraków!
